One Atera API key brings every computer running the Atera agent into SmartTile — allocated to the customer company and location it really lives at, called DOWN from what Atera reports each minute, and ticketed in your IT Service Management (ITSM) system like any other device.
An MSP's Atera console knows which computers are offline — but the NOC watches the network somewhere else, and one Atera key covers dozens of customers. SmartTile reads Atera with one key per holder company, lets you allocate every computer to the customer and site it belongs to, and from then on treats what Atera says in this minute's listing as the truth: offline is DOWN, and so is a computer that quietly drops off the list. BETA: built, tested and running on SmartChoice's own platform; each new customer's first key is proven with you through Test and Find devices.
Find devices lists every Atera customer and computer the key can see, with a suggested SmartTile company and location matched on the Atera customer name. Save a default per Atera customer and allocate many ticked computers in one step.
Each ticked computer becomes a Workstation or Server device. SmartTile first looks for it by Atera agent, device GUID, serial, MAC and hostname; a device already watched by ping or SNMP is linked and keeps its own monitoring.
Maker, model, serial, MAC and operating system go through SmartTile's one shared identity writer with from Atera provenance; hostname, LAN and public IP, customer and Atera agent ID are kept on the device.
Every minute: Atera says offline for 2 polls → DOWN; missing from a list that still returns other computers for 5 polls → DOWN; Online but Last Seen older than 15 min → treated as offline. Each transition lands in state history.
Atera-monitored devices are judged by the alert engine like any API-monitored device, so the open delay, one-ticket-per-location and auto-close rules your company already uses apply. Reboots (Atera's Last Reboot moving) are recorded.
Every row links to the computer's own Atera page (when Atera supplies it) for remote control — Atera's public API has no remote-session call, so SmartTile does not pretend to offer one.
| Setting | What it controls |

| Platform switch | Super admin, Engine Safety; plus a server kill switch |
| Offline / missing / stale | 2 polls · 5 polls · 15 min — each with ⓘ help |
| Key expiry | Banner and admin e-mail 30 days before; repeated weekly |

Seen by SmartTile's agent: Atera lists the computer as offline on two polls in a row
Then: host status DOWN with state history; after the device's open delay the alert engine opens one ticket in the company's ITSM system and closes it on recovery where policy says so
AES-256-GCM at rest, never returned, never logged, never in the transaction log; a fingerprint spots a duplicate key without decrypting it.
A key belongs to one company. A computer's company always comes from the location it is allocated to, and both companies must be ones you manage.
Company admins, resellers and super admins; users and viewers are refused. Every add, test, allocation, import and pause is written to the transaction log.
A failed or empty listing never marks anything DOWN. After 10 failed polls the key's UP computers turn grey (UNKNOWN) and SmartChoice's NOC is e-mailed — no customer ticket.
In the first minutes after a restart the listing is read but no device is written and no reboot is recorded.
"Open in Atera" only ever points at an https atera.com address.
