One click on a location turns the devices SmartTile knows about into a new, editable Lucidchart document — laid out by device role and coloured by live status at the moment of export. BETA: the connection is held by SmartChoice, not by each customer.
Nobody enjoys drawing a site diagram, and the one in the binder is always a rack behind. SmartTile already knows every device at a location — what it is, its addresses, its circuit and whether it is up. The Lucid export hands that to Lucidchart as a finished starting point, so an engineer edits a drawing instead of starting from a blank canvas.
Nine columns, left to right: ISP circuit (drawn as a cloud), router, firewall, switch, access point, server, camera, phone, other. Role is inferred from each device's category, name, vendor and model.
Green up, red down, amber critical, grey pending, white unmonitored — the state SmartTile saw at the moment of export.
Each shape carries IP, gateway, status, vendor, model, serial, circuit, internet type and round-trip time as Lucid shape data, ready for Lucid's own data-linking and filtering.
| Requirement | Detail |
|---|---|
| Entitlement | lucid_enabled plus integrations — included in the Automate package, off in the others |
| Lucid connection | One OAuth authorization for the server, done by SmartChoice (scopes: document content, profile, offline access) |
| Where the document lives | In the Lucid account that authorized the connection, optionally in a set folder |
/oauth2/tokenAuthorization-code exchange and token refresh/documents (multipart, x-application/vnd.lucid.standardImport)Create the diagram from the Standard Import file/documents (JSON: title, product=lucidchart)Fallback: create an empty titled document if the import is rejectedDevice name (or SNMP system name), role, status, public IP, gateway, vendor, model, serial number, circuit id, internet type and last round-trip time.
No credentials, SNMP communities, API tokens or configurations are placed in the Lucid file — only the inventory fields above.
The export route refuses a company without lucid_enabled; the button says why.
The Locations page asks the server whether the company is entitled and the connection is authorized before enabling the button.
The OAuth start and status endpoints require an admin or superadmin session.
| Question | Answer |
|---|---|
| “Can we connect our own Lucid account?” | Not today. The connection is one per SmartTile server, authorized by SmartChoice. |
| “Does the Lucid diagram stay in sync?” | No. Each export is a snapshot; export again for a fresh one. |
| “Is this the same as SmartTile's own diagrams?” | No. SmartTile's built-in network diagrams are separate and live; the Lucid export is an editable copy for Lucid users. |
| “Will it overwrite our drawing?” | Never. It always creates a new document. |
