SMARTTILE · SERVICEAUTOMATE™ · MICROSOFT SHAREPOINT

Your SharePoint library, open inside SmartTile

Each company connects its own Microsoft 365 tenant and one SharePoint document library. Engineers browse, search, download, upload and bookmark the site binders, as-builts and contracts next to the devices they describe — without a second login.

SmartTile integrates with
Microsoft SharePoint Online document libraries, through Microsoft Graph v1.0, using an app registration in your own Entra ID tenant and OAuth 2.0 delegated sign-in.
How SmartTile automates it
SmartTile keeps the delegated token refreshed, reads the library live from Graph for every browse and search, uploads in chunks with rate-limit backoff, and runs a background metadata sync on the interval you choose.

The documentation for a site — rack photos, the circuit handoff, the lease, the as-built — usually lives in SharePoint, and the monitoring lives somewhere else. So during an outage an engineer is signing into two systems and hunting through folders. The SharePoint page in SmartTile puts the company's own library one click from the NOC view, under that company's own Microsoft sign-in.

What SmartTile does with it

Browse the library

Folders and files of the selected document library, with breadcrumbs — read live from Graph every time, so what you see is what is in SharePoint now.

Search

Full-text search across the selected library (up to 200 results), from the SmartTile page.

Download

Files stream through SmartTile straight from SharePoint — nothing is copied or kept on our side.

Upload and create folders

Drop a file into the current folder. Under 4 MB goes in one request; larger files use a Graph upload session in 3.75 MB chunks (up to 250 MB by default). Existing names are never overwritten.

Bookmarks

Each user pins the folders and files they open most, in their own order.

Background sync

A metadata index of the library refreshed by delta query every 15 min to 24 h (60 min default), with sync history and item count shown in Settings.

How it goes live

  1. Azure Portal → App registrations → New registration: Accounts in this organizational directory only; Web redirect URI = the address the SmartTile wizard shows (click to copy).
  2. API permissions → Microsoft Graph → Delegated: Sites.Read.All, Files.ReadWrite.All, User.Read, then Grant admin consent.
  3. Certificates & secrets → New client secret — copy the Value, not the Secret ID.
  4. In SmartTile SharePoint: paste the Application (Client) ID, Directory (Tenant) ID and secret value, Save & Connect, sign in with Microsoft.
  5. Pick the SharePoint site and the document library.
WhoCan
Company adminConnect, pick site and library, sync settings, disconnect
UsersBrowse, search, download, bookmark
Users (not viewers)Upload files, create folders
ViewersRead only — upload and new folder are blocked
The wizard walks through every Azure screen in order. The tenant id must be your own directory id, not common — the wizard warns if it is.

Security and control

Your tenant, your app

Each company registers its own app in its own Entra ID. One connection per organization, private to that company.

Encrypted at rest

Client secret, access token and refresh token are stored AES-256-GCM. The secret is never returned to the browser.

Signed sign-in

The Microsoft sign-in carries a one-time random state that expires in 10 minutes — a forged callback is refused.

Polite to Graph

429s honour Retry-After; 503/504 back off exponentially; SmartTile also rate-limits search, download and upload per user.

Common objections

ObjectionAnswer
“Does SmartTile keep copies of our files?”No. Browse, search and download go to Graph live; files stream through. The sync index holds metadata only.
“We don't want a vendor app in our tenant.”There isn't one. You create the app registration in your own directory and can revoke it there at any time.
“Big files?”Upload sessions in 3.75 MB chunks with per-chunk retry; up to 250 MB by default.
“Can a viewer delete or change things?”Viewers cannot upload or create folders, and SmartTile has no delete or rename action at all.
The site binder is one click from the outage — in your own SharePoint.
